Abstract: National Marine Fisheries Service is implementing additional closed area restrictions to protect bottom habitat from fishing gear impacts, as mandated by the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. These areas are referred to as Essential Fish Habitat conservation areas. This collection will require vessel monitoring systems and reporting for 1,637 Open Area vessels as well as 424 Limited Entry vessels.
