Abstract: ATF COLLECTS, COMPILES AND PUBLISHES STATISTICS SUMMARIZING PRODUCTION AND EXPORTATION OF FIREARMS BY TYPE. THESE STATISTICS ARE VITAL IN TH IT ENABLES BOTH INDUSTRY AND ATF TO IDENTIFY CURRENT TRENDS RELATING TO FIREARMS PRODUCTION AND EXPORTATION. THIS FORM IS THE ONLY VEHICLE WHICH PROVIDES THE GOVERNMENT WITH AN ACCURATE TOTAL OF THE FIREARMS PRODUCED IN AND EXPORTED FROM THE U.S. THIS FORM IS ALSO USED IN CRIMINAL OR COMPLIANCE INVESTIGATIONS.
