Abstract: THESE DATA ARE USED BY THE FED. RES. BOARD (1) TO ANALYZE AND INTERPRE MOVEMENTS IN THE MONETARY AGGREGATES, (2) TO OBSERVE COMPETITIVE DEVELOPMENT BETWEEN BANKS AND THRIFT INSTITUTIONS, AND (3) TO HELP MONITOR THE EARNINGS POSITION OF DEPOSITORY INSTITUTIONS. THESE DATA PROVIDE THE FED. RES. BD. AND THE DEPOSIT. INSTITUTIONS DEREG. COMM.
