10 USC 504, 505, 508, and 12102 established minimum standards for entry into the Armed Forces. This information collection is necessary to gather data on applicants for military enlistment. The DD Form 369, Police Record Check, is used to screen and identify applicants who may have a discreditable involvement with the police or other law enforcement agencies. It is used to identify those applicants who may be undesirable for military service or required a waiver to enlist. It is initiated whenever an applicant indicates any type of criminal involvement or arrest record other than a minor traffic violation.
There has been an increase in burden due to an increase in those seeking enlistment or placement into the Armed Forces. The respondent population consists of those who qualify for service and those who do not complete or make it to enlistment that go through the accessions process.
