Abstract: The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is proposing to collect data for the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) Study. The MSHS Study is a nationally representative study that focuses on describing the characteristics and experiences of the children and families who enroll in MSHS and the practices and services of the MSHS programs that serve them. This information collection request is for the recruitment and data collection activities for the MSHS study. The MSHS Study recruitment and data collection activities will yield rich information to answer the MSHS Study research questions, which were developed based on the MSHS Conceptual Framework (see Appendix 1). The overall goal of the MSHS study will be to: 1) describe the characteristics of MSHS programs, centers, families and children; 2) describe MSHS services, instructional practices and quality; and 3) understand the associations between MSHS characteristics and child/family well-being.
