Abstract: SSA uses Form SSA-781 to determine if non-custodial parents who are filing for spouse's, mother's, or father's benefits based on having a child in their care meet the in-care requirements. If the child leaves the respondent's care, the respondent completes Form SSA-781 so that SSA can determine if the respondent meets the requirement. Respondents are applicants for spouse, mother's or father's Social Security benefits.
