Abstract: NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service plans to collect data on Sacramento River anglers – including their fishing effort and expenditures on Central Valley water bodies (Sacramento and San Joaquin River systems, lakes/reservoirs and the Delta), their demographic characteristics, and factors other than fish abundance (i.e., landscape/water characteristics, recreational amenities) that affect their fishing location choices. This information will be useful for understanding how activities to recover ESA-listed wild salmonids (habitat restoration, fish passage improvement) might affect existing fisheries and the receptivity of anglers to fishing in newly restored or newly accessible locations.
