Abstract: The FR Y-12 collects information from certain domestic bank holding companies on their investments is nonfinancial companies. It enables the Federal Reserve to monitor these investments on a timely basis and to ensure that they are made in a safe and sound manner. The FR Y-12A collects information that provides the Federal Reserve with data concerning merchant banking investments that are approaching the end of the holding period permissible under Regulation Y.
