Cover the following points – (1) NHAMCS is a sister survey of the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS). NAMCS collects data on visits to physicians in office-based practices (2) NAMCS and NHAMCS are sponsored by the National Center for Health Statistics of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (3) NAMCS and NHAMCS data are used extensively by health care organizations, health services planners, researchers, and educators (4) Annually, there are almost 200 million visits to hospital emergency and outpatient departments and 35 million visits to ambulatory surgery centers, including 15 million visits to freestanding ambulatory surgery centers 2.
