The Commission applied previously-adopted rules to wireless carriers. Such rules are designed to make consumers' telecommunications bills easier to read and understand, and were adopted in response to consumers' difficulties in understanding their bills, detecting fraud, resolving billing disputes, and comparing carrier rates to get the best value for themselves.
US Code:
47 USC 201(b)
Name of Law: Communications Act of 1934, as amended
The Commission has re-evaluated the assessment of the burdens for this information collection and determined there has been:
a decrease in the number of annual respondents of -1,104 respondents, from 5,588 respondents to 4,484 respondents; a decrease in the annual number of responses of -7,728 responses, from 41,858 responses to 34,130 responses; and a decrease in annual hours of -603,888 hours, from 3,872,876 hours to 3,268,988 hours.
With this submission, the Commission really examined and evaluated the numbers that were accounted for in this supporting statement. Therefore, the Commission used more concrete and précised numbers based on the Commission's September 2010 Trends in Telephone Report. The decrease in the annual burden hours is due to the decrease in the number of annual respondents to this information collection.
