Terms of Clearance: Prior to the commencement of the 2009 -- 2011 Company Organization Survey forms distribution, the Census Bureau shall provide on its Internet site prominent links to a set of finalized survey forms, including instructions and cover letters, comparable to those provided for the 2007 Economic Census report forms. The final forms and letters shall reflect any changes in the survey year, OMB number expiration date, and Census leadership from those submitted for review.

Abstract: The Census Bureau conducts the annual Company Organization Survey (COS) in order to update and maintain a central, multi- purpose Business Register (BR). In particular, the COS supplies critical information on the composition, organizational structure, and operating characteristics of multi-establishment companies. The BR provides sampling populations and enumeration lists for the Census Bureau's economic surveys and censuses as well as providing the basis for the annual County Business Patterns (CBP) statistical series.
