Abstract: The Community Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) program supports grantees developing and implementing abstinenence education programs for adolescents, ages 12-18, in communities across the United States. The CBAE program office has developed a survey in order to gather program specific data on rates of abstinence pre- and post-program participation to assess key program outcomes among youth program participants. The surveys will be administered by CBAE grantees and the respondents are the youth participants in the program ages 12-18. The program office will collect and analyze the data from the grantees to establish baselines and ambitious targets for the program specific performance measure. Data analysis will help inform the monitoring of grantees for program design, program evaluation, managment improvement, service quality and grantee compliance with agreed upon goals. Results will provide valuable information for reporting program outcomes and efficiencies which can determine program impacts and effectiveness. It will also provide valuable information for policymakers and key stakeholders in the development of programs and research efforts.
