Abstract: Recent changes in sexually transmitted disease (STD) epidemiology in the United States require a better understanding of the sexual practices, clinical manifestations, and STD-associated risk behaviors. The proposed STD Morbidity surveillance system is expected to provide evidence needed to enhance our understanding of STDs, develop intervention strategies, and evaluate the impact of ongoing control efforts.
