The 2nd R&O imposes two information collection requirements. First, the NANPA, the Pooling Administrator, or a state commission may draft a request for an audit stating the reason for the request, such as misleading or inaccurate data, and attach supporting documentation. Second, requests from state commissions for copies of carriers' applications for numbering resources may be made directly to carriers. The information collected will be used by the FCC, state commissions, the NANPA and the Pooling Administrator to verify the validity and accuracy of such data and to assist state commissions in carrying out their numbering responsibilities, such as area code relief.
The number of respondents for "For Cause" audit requests has decreased from 50 to 5. In addition the number of State Commission requests for Carriers' Initial and Growth Numbering Resource Application Materials has increased slightly, from 2,000 to 2,100. The Commission now believes that because of the use of sophisticated information technology, respondents now require only 10 minutes (0.1667 hours) rather than 15 minutes (0.25 hours) to comply with such requests from the State Commissions.
