Extension without change of a currently approved collection
Form 1040-ES is used by individuals (including self-employed) to make estimated tax payments if their estimated tax due is $1,000 or more. IRS uses the data to credit taxpayers' accounts and to determine if estimated tax has been properly computed and timely paid. Form 1040-ES(E) does not include paper payment vouchers or return envelopes, it is sent to people who pay their estimated tax by an electronic payment method.
