Abstract: The NIS-4 is designed to provide national estimates of child maltreatment in the United States, including both cases reported to officials and those tht are not reported. The study is expected to collect data from 120 Child Protective Services agencies as well as 1600 community agencies that are likely to encounter children who are abused or neglected. Child protective services workers and community agency personnel will provide information on children who are suspected victims of maltreatment.
