Terms of Clearance: Approved consistent with the previous terms of clearance. Specifically, 1) This streamlined process applies only to those info collection requests previously approved by OMB that change the selection criteria a) from the same EDGAR menu, b) old EDGAR to new EDGAR criteria, or c) program criteria to EDGAR criteria. No other changes to the information collection request, other than the ones listed above, can be approved through this streamlined process; 2) OMB will provide a response to ED on each submission under this approval within 10 days of OMB receiving the individual approval requests; 3) Each information collection submitted under this clearance will retain its original OMB#, however a cover memo, in lieu of an OMB 83-I, will accompany each submission explaining the purpose of the submission (e.g. old EDGAR to new EDGAR) and will reference the 1880-0539 approved information clearance request; 4) Each information collection submitted under this clearance will retain its original expiration date.

Abstract: Since April 1997, EDGAR's menu of selection criteria became effective. For each competition, the Secretary would select one or more criteria that best enable the Department to identify the highest quality applications consistent with the program purpose, statutory requirements, and any priorities established. This allows the Secretary the flexibility to weigh the criteria according to the needs of each individual program.
