Terms of Clearance: Approved consistent with changes and clarifications described in NIOSH memos of 10-29-99 and 11-9-99. NIOSH will conduct the follow-ups necessary to maximize response rate. In addition, as described in the 10-29 memo, NIOSH will analyze the character- istics of participants and non-participants to determine any bias arising from selecting only firms with web access.

Abstract: This research will compare four health and safety communication interventions using a study sample drawn from small U.S. residential building construction contractors. The study will determine the relative effectiveness of tailored occupational saftey and health (OS&H) information versus non-tailored OS&H information. The study will also determine the relative effectiveness of the World Wide Web and direct mail as delivery mechanisms.
