The SNAP program is identifying alternatives to ozone-depleting refrigerants used for air conditioning motor vehicles. As CFC-12 is phased-out, some 30 million cars will be retrofitted to use alternative refrigerants. The retrofitted air conditioning units will be labelled to specify the refrigerant the system uses in order to avoid cross-contamination of refrigerants.
