Terms of Clearance: This collection is approved on the condition that CDC revise the burden statements to reflect the estimated burden of 15 minutes. In addition, the burden hours have been revised by dropping the burden associated with Form B from the total. The burden associated with this form is not covered under the Paperwork Reduction Act. Also, OMB requests that CDC send the results of or any reports on the 1990 study of surveillance systems mentioned on page 4 (item 4) of the Supporting Statement.

Abstract: The National Electronic Telecommunications System for Surveillance (NETSS) was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Epidemiology Program Office (EPO) in cooperation with the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) as the outcome of the Epidemic Surveillance Project in 1984. The system builds on existing software used by State health departments for routine management of infectious disease surveillance data in their States.
