Abstract: FDA has the responsibility under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) for approval of new animal drugs for investigational use (INAD). The regulations implementing statutory requirements for INADs are codified under 21 CFR part 511, which, among other things, provides specific criteria for submission of an INAD application for approval.
