Abstract: Information on the quanity of fish and shellfish held in cold storage in the U.S. is collected on a voluntary basis. The data are used by industry for planning and by Fishery Management Councils and NMFS for fishery management and development purposes. The program is authorized under section 742(d) of the Fish Wildlife Act of 1956, as amended (16 U.S.C. 742(a)-745) and under the provisions of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (16 U.S.C. 1801 et seq.), as amended.
