Abstract: The PMI demonstration project is integrating community planning and social marketing approaches to the prevention of HIV infection in young people in five cities around the country. After extensive technical assistance, specially constituted community coalitions have planned interventions, including media, skills-building workshops for adolescents, parent workshops, peer outreach, and condom distribution. To evaluate the effectiveness of the skills-building workshops in decreasing risk of HIV infection, a pre/post/1-month follow-up study of the workshops is planned.
