Abstract: The 1997 Business Expenditures Survey will supplement basic statistics from the economic censuses with data on operating expenses by type for merchant wholesale, retail, and services businesses and organizations. Further, it will provide measures of value produced for merchant wholesale and retail trades. Authorized by title 13, United States Code (U.S.C.), this collection is part of the economic censuses, which is a primary source of facts about the Nation's economy.
