Abstract: This survey will be used to verify the existence of special district government units, obtain current addresses, and identify new government units for the 1997 Census of Governments. Respondents are the 3,043 active county governments in the Nation. We send listings of current special districts to the county officials, and request that they update the lists to ensure complete coverage in the 1997 Census.
