Abstract: THE CENSUS BUREAU NEEDS TAX DATA PROVIDED BY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMEN OFFICIALS TO PUBLISH BENCHMARK STATISTICS ON PUBLIC SECTOR TAXES, TO PROVIDE DATA TO THE BUREAU OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS FOR GNP CALCULATIONS A OTHER ECONOMIC INDICATORS, AND TO PROVIDE DATA FOR ECONOMIC RESEARCH A COMPARATIVE STUDIES OF GOVERNMENTAL FINANCES.
