Abstract: THIS ANNUAL SURVEY PROVIDES STATE GOVERNMENT FINANCE DATA AND ESTIMATE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT REVENUE, EXPENDITURE, DEBT, AND ASSETS BY TYPE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT, NATIONALLY AND WITHIN STATE AREAS. THE DATA ARE USE TO CALCULATE THE GNP, TO MONITOR THE GOVERNMENT SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY, AND TO FORMULATE, DEVELOP, AND REVIEW PUBLIC POLICY.
