Abstract: SECTION 409(A) OF THE FD&C ACT PROVIDES THAT A FOOD ADDITIVE WILL BE CONSIDERED UNSAFE UNLESS ITS USE IS PERMITTED BY A REGULATION PROVIDIN SAFE CONDITIONS OF USE. SECTION 409(B) OF THE ACT SPECIFIES THE INFORMATION WHICH MUST BE SUBMITTED IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH THE SAFETY O THE FOOD ADDITIVE AND TO SECURE THE ASSURANCE OF A REGULATION PERMITTING ITS USE.
