Abstract: IN STANDARD TERMINATIONS UNDER ERISA TITLE IV, THE PLAN ADMINISTRATOR MUST DISTRIBUTE PLAN ASSETS TO PROVIDE ALL BENEFIT LIABILITIES, OFTEN THROUGH THE PURCHASE OF ANNUITY CONTRACTS FROM INSURERS. PARTICIPANTS AND PBGC NEED TIMELY NOTICE OF THE NAME OF THE INSURER IN ORDER TO PROTECT RETIREMENT BENEFITS.
