Abstract: THE ECONOMIC CENSUSES, CONDUCTED UNDER PROVISIONS OF TITLE 13, UNITED STATES CODE, SECTIONS 131 AND 224, CONSTITUTE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF FACTS ABOUT THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONING OF A LARGE SEGMENT OF THE ECONOMY AND PROVIDE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS, AN GENERAL PUBLIC. THEY PROVIDE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE FRAMEWORK FOR THE NATIONAL ACCOUNTS AND SERVE AS BENCHMARKS FOR ECONOMIC INDICATORS.
