Abstract: SECTION 149(E) OF THE CODE REQUIRES ISSUERS OF CERTAIN TAX-EXEMPT BOND TO FILE INFORMATION REPORTS. FAILURE BY ISSUERS TO MAKE TIMELY FILING OF INFORMATION REPORTS COULD CAUSE THE INTEREST ON AFFECTED BOND ISSUE TO NOT BE EXCLUDABLE FROM GROSS INCOME. THIS REQUIREMENT AFFECTS ISSUERS OF TAX-EXEMPT BONDS: STATES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.
