Abstract: DATA COLLECTED FROM HOSPITAL OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENTS AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS CONCERNING PATIENT VISITS ARE AGGREGATED TO NATIONAL STATISTICS. THE DATA ARE USED BY THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PLANNING, MEDICAL EDUCATION, HEALTH MANPOWER ASSESSMENT, EPIDEMIOLOGIC STUDIES, AND OTHER MEDICAL CARE UTILIZATION RESEARCH.
