Abstract: THE RULE REQUIRES APPROXIMATELY 19,000 ENTITIES IN THE SECURITIES INDUSTRY TO REGISTER IN THE LOST AND STOLEN SECURITIES PROGRAM TO OBTAIN ACCESS TO A CONFIDENTIAL DATA BASE THAT FULFILLS A STATUTORY REQUIREMENT THAT THE ENTITIES REPORT AND INQUIRE ABOUT MISSING, LOST, STOLEN OR COUNTERFEIT SECURITIES. REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY TO DETERMINE COMPLIANCE WITH RULE 17F-1.
