Terms of Clearance: Approved by OMB under the following conditions: 1) In its next printing of the forms associated with this package (form HUD 59100, 92900,92004-WS, 92900-G), HUD shall publish the required burden hour disclosure statement, OMB approval number and expiration date, pursuan to the Paperwork Reduction Act (5 CFR Part 1320). The public shall not that "no person shall be subject to any penalty for failure to comply with any collection of information that does not display a currently valid OMB approval number." 2) HUD shall discuss methods to reduce the burden placed upon mortgagees to refinance Section 238 Mortgages. In particular, HUD shall address any comments by the public on ways to improve the efficiency of this information collection, such as the use of computer systems or electronic filing directly with mortgagees, eve even if there is a lack of uniformity. The burden hours associated with this information collection have been adjusted upward because HUD's estimate of 16 minutes to complete 12 forms seems too low. HUD can resubmit this information collection at any time with a better justification of the burden hours associated with the 12 separate information collections. HUD shall categorize the various types of cases and provide a more detailed burden hour descriptions as per type of refinancing case.

Abstract: THE DEPARTMENT IS IMPLEMENTING SECTION 235(R) OF THE NATIONAL HOUSING ACT (AS AMENDED BY SECTION 125 OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT REFORM ACT OF 1989 THAT ALLOWS THE SECRETARY TO INSURE MORTGAGES THAT REFINANCE SECTION 235 MORTGAGES. THE DEPARTMENT' GOAL IS TO REDUCE THE FEDERAL SUBSIDY.
