Abstract: THIS REGULATION REQUIRES EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLANS TO ESTABLISH PROCEDURES WHICH PROVIDES ADEQUATE WRITTEN NOTICE TO ANY PARTICIPANT OR BENEFICIARY OF AN EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLAN WHOSE CLAIM HAS BEEN DENIED. AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A REVIEW OF A DENIED CLAIM MUST ALSO BE PROVIDED, THE DECISION UPON A REVIEW MUST ALSO BE IN WRITING.
