Abstract: THE PROPOSED RULE, 10 CFR PART 54, WOULD SET THE PROCEDURE AND STANDARDS FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT LICENSE RENEWAL. ORIGINAL LICENSES ARE LIMITED TO MAXIMUM OF FORTH YEARS. CURRENT REGULATIONS PROVIDE FOR RENEWAL BUT DO NOT ESTABLISH PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS. THE ENTITIES PRINCIPALLY AFFECTED ARE ELECTRIC UTILITIES.
