Abstract: SURVEY IS THE ONLY SOURCE OF DATA ON CURRENT COTTON GINNINGS. DATA ARE VITAL TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) IN PREPARING MONTHL COTTON PRODUCTION FORECASTS, CLASSIFICATION, AND PRODUCTION COST ESTIMATES. DATA ARE USED BY THE ENTIRE COTTON INDUSTRY AND ARE VITAL IN PROVIDING FOR A STABLE MARKET. THE RESPONDENTS ARE COTTON GINNERS.
