P.L. 100-242, SECTION 165 AUTHORIZES HUD TO REQUIRE APPLICANTS AND PARTICIPANTS IN HUD PROGRAMS INVOLVING LOANS, GRANTS, ASSISTANCE, OR MORTGAGE OR LOAN INSURANCE TO DISCLOSE ASSIGNED SSN OR EINS TO HUD. THIS WILL ENABLE HUD TO USE THESE NUMBERS TO DECREASE THE INCIDENCE OF FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE IN PROGRAMS SUBJECT TO THIS RULE.
