Abstract: THE PRUPOSE OF THIS REGULATION IS TO REDUCE REPORTING BURDEN ON STATES UNDER CURRENT MEDICAID QUALITY CONTROL, TO CONSOLIDATE THE MONITORING OF CLAIMS PROCESSING UNDER THE MMIS APPROVAL AND ANNUAL REAPPROVAL PROCESS, AND TO IMPROVE STATES FLEXIBILITY BY PERMITTING STATES TO OPERATE ALTERNATE PROGRAMS IF THEY MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA.
