Abstract: THE REGULATION REQUIRES ORGAN PROCUREMENT AGENCIES AND RENAL TRANSPLANT CENTERS TO PROVIDE THE NUMBER OF ORGANS PROCURED OR TRANSPLANTED INTO MEDICARE BENEFICIAIRIES. THIS NUMBER WILL BE USE ON THE ANNUAL COST REPORT FOR COST APPORTIONMENT PURPOSES. IT IS USED TO ENSURE THAT MEDICARE DOES NOT PAY FOR NON-MEDICARE PATIENT COSTS.
