Abstract: THE MARINE MAMMAL PROTECTION ACT PLACES A MORITORIUM ON TAKING MARINE MAMMALS. COMMERCI FISHERMEN NEED TO APPLY FOR A WAIVER OF THAT MORITORIUM AND OBTAIN A GENERAL PERMIT. THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED IS REVIEWED BY NMFS AND THE PUBLIC TO DETERMINE IF A WAIVER IS APPROPRIATE. PERMITS AND CERTIFICATES OF INCLUSION TO TAKE MARINE MAMMALS.
