Abstract: THE MONTHLY RETAIL INVENTORY SURVEY PROVIDES ESTIMATED DOLLAR VOLUME END-OF-MONTH INVENTORIES OF RETAIL STORES. CHANGES IN THE VALUE OF THE INVENTORY LEVELS ARE USED BY THE BUREAU OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS IN THEIR CALCULATIONS OF GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT AND ARE NOT PUBLICLY AVAILABLE FROM NONGOVERNMENT OR OTHER GOVERNMENT SOURCES.
