Abstract: NHANES III WILL MEASURE AND MONITOR THE HEALTH AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF THE U.S. AS A SIX-YEAR SURVEY INVOLVING 60000 PARTICIPANTS AGES TWO MONTHS AND OLDER. PILOT TESTING IS NECESSARY TO EVALUATE AND REFINE QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN, SAMPLING, TRAINING, AND EXAMINATION PROCEDURES, EQUIPMENT, AUTOMATION, AND OUTREACH EFFORTS.
