Abstract: FORM 8621 IS USED BY SHAREHOLDERS OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT COMPANIES. SHAREHOLDERS OF PASSIVE INVESTMENT COMPANIES USE FORM 8621 TO REPORT DISTRIBUTIONS FROM THE FUND, AND A DEFERRED TAX AMOUNT WHEN AN EXCESS DISTRIBUTION IS MADE. SHAREHOLDERS OF QUALIFIED ELECTING FUNDS ARE TAXED ON CURRENT INCOME FROM THE FUND. THE IRS USES FORM 8621 TO VERIFY THAT SHAREHOLDERS HAVE INCLUDED THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF INCOME FROM THESE
