Terms of Clearance: APPROVED WITH THE CONDITION THAT THE FRB SUBMIT A COPY OF THE QUESTIONS EACH TIME THE SURVEY IS CONDUCTED. THIS CONDITION IS BEING IMPOSED TO ENSURE THAT THE QUESTIONS HAVE PRACTICAL UTILITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PAPERWORK REDUCTION ACT AND ITS IMPLEMENTING REGULATIONS AT 5 CFR 1320. THE BURDEN HOUR CHANGES ARE REVISED TO REFLECT THE FACT THAT THE REESTIMATE OF THE BURDEN PER RESPONDENT OCCURS AFTER THE REDUCTION OF THE NUMBER OF RESPONSES FROM 8 TO 6. THUS, THE BURDEN ESTIMATE WAS 60 x 8 x 0.5 = 240 HOURS FIRST CHANGES TO 60 x 6 x 0.5 = 180 HOURS (MINUS 60 HOURS PROGRAM CHANGE) AND THEN CHANGES TO 60 x 6 x 2.0 HOURS = 720 HOURS (PLUS 540 HOURS ADJUSTMENT).

Abstract: THIS SURVEY COLLECTS QUALITATIVE INFORMATION ABOUT CHANGES IN BUSINESS LOAN DEMAND AND VARIOUS ASPECTS OF BANK LENDING PRACTICES AND SERVES AS AN IMPORTANT TOOL FOR MONITORING AND UNDERSTANDING THE EVOLUTION OF LENDING PRACTICES AT BANKS AND DEVELOPMENTS IN CREDIT MARKETS GENERALLY.
