THE LARGE NUMBER OF PROCESSED FOODS MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR CONSUMERS TO CHOSE FOODS THAT PROVIDE NUTRIENTS NECESSARY FOR GOOD HEALTH. NUTRITION LABELING OF PROCESSED FOODS ASSISTS: 1) CONSUMER IN MAKING APPROPRIATE CHOICES, AND 2) THE MANUFACTURER IN MARKETING NUTRITIOUS FOODS. THE NUTRITION LABELING REGULATIONS PLACE AN INFORMATIONAL BURDEN ON MANUFACTURERS WHO PROVIDE SUCH LABELING.
