Abstract: THE ECONOMIC CENSUSES, CONDUCTED UNDER PROVISIONS OF TITLE 13, USC, CONSTITUTE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF FACTS ABOUT THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONING OF A LARGE SEGMENT OF THE ECONOMY AND PROVIDE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THEY ALSO PROVIDE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE FRAMEWORK FOR THE NATIONAL ACCOUNTS AND SERVE AS A BENCHMARK FOR ECONOMIC INDICATORS.
