Abstract: THE REGULATIONS PROPOSE UPDATED AND GENDER-NEUTRAL ANNUITY TABLES AND AN ELECTIVE TRANSITIONAL RULE FOR THE USE OF THE NEW TABLES. UNDE THE TRANSITIONAL RULE, A TAXPAYER WHO INVESTS IN AN ANNUITY CONTRACT BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE REGULATIONS MAY ELECT TO PERFORM SEPARATE COMPUTATIONS TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT EXCLUDED FROM GROSS INCOME.
