Abstract: THE AGENCY CANNOT ENSURE SAFE USE WITHOUT PRACTICABLE METHODS TO MEASU DOSE. RECORDS INSPECTION IS THE ONLY WAY TO DETERMINE WHETHER FIRMS COMPLY WITH THE DOSE LIMITATIONS IN THE REGULATION. AT PRESENT THERE NO FOOD IRRADIATION BUSINESS, BUT THE REGULATION IS PERMISSIVE IN NATURE.
