Abstract: IN A NOTICE PUBLISHED IN THE FEDERAL REGISTER (50 FR 13306, 4-3-85), THE FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION HAS DETERMINED THAT SULFITING AGENTS HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO PRODUCE SERIOUS ALLERGIC-TYPE REACTIONS IN SOME INDIVIDUALS, PARTICULARLY ASTHMATICS. DISCLOSURE OF SULFITES ON LABEL WILL MINIMIZE EXPOSURE TO THESE INGREDIENTS.
